Potential Chiefs Trade Targets - Vikings
The Chiefs are buyers in the trade market who should they look at?
I’m taking a look at some of the names that could be available before the trade deadline on October 31st. I’m going to go through all of the names that people wanted to see and I’m going to split them into rankings based on what the Chiefs could or could not afford. This is not necessarily about whether or not I think the Chiefs should try to get these players. On the Vikings list so far: Harrison Smith, KJ Osborn, and Danielle Hunter. Let’s dive in.

Chiefs Cap Space
As a quick primer for these conversations, the Chiefs currently have about $3.88 million in cap space. Adding players at this time that are much more than the league minimum will constitute a need for several restructures.
Affordable
K.J. Osborn
Osborn is still on his rookie contract and will be a free agent in 2024. His salary for 2024 is $2.74 million which is reasonable and something the Chiefs could make work if they wanted. For the rest of 2023, Osborn would only be owed $1.68 million for the last 11 weeks of the season. The Chiefs would likely need to make a corresponding move to free up a little bit of space but they could make this contract work if they were interested.
