I’m taking a look at some of the names that could be available before the trade deadline on October 31st. I’m going to go through all of the names that people wanted to see and I’m going to split them into rankings based on what the Chiefs could or could not afford. This is not necessarily about whether or not I think the Chiefs should try to get these players. On the Saints list so far: Demario Davis, Michael Thomas, and Chris Olave. Let’s dive in.

Chiefs Cap Space

As a quick primer for these conversations, the Chiefs currently have about $3.88 million in cap space. Adding players at this time that are much more than the league minimum will constitute a need for several restructures.

Affordable

Chris Olave

He’s easily affordable for the Chiefs for the next two seasons. The largest portion of his earnings was his $11.2 million bonus that the Saints have already paid. For 2023 his cost left to KC would be $531,667. 2024 and 2025 are still very cheap since he is on his rookie deal. They would also have the option to pick up his 5th-year option in 2026. In 2024 he would be owed $2.46 million and in 2025 it would be $3.33 million both of which are fully guaranteed.
