Potential Chiefs Trade Targets - Panthers
The Chiefs are buyers in the trade market who should they look at?
I’m taking a look at some of the names that could be available before the trade deadline on October 31st. I’m going to go through all of the names that people wanted to see and I’m going to split them into rankings based on what the Chiefs could or could not afford. This is not necessarily about whether or not I think the Chiefs should try to get these players. On the Panthers list so far: Brian Burns, Adam Theilen, Terrace Marshall, Jr., Derrick Brown, and Sam Franklin. Let’s dive in.

Chiefs Cap Space
As a quick primer for these conversations, the Chiefs currently have about $3.88 million in cap space. Adding players at this time that are much more than the league minimum will constitute a need for several restructures.
Affordable
Adam Theilen
Surprisingly enough Theilen is someone the Chiefs could afford in 2023 and in 2024 where the guaranteed money runs out. For the rest of 2023, Theilen would cost the Chiefs $1.035 million for the rest of 2023 with his $1,165,000 salary and a per-game roster bonus of $500,000. In 2024, Thielen has a guaranteed salary of $4.5 million but an overall base salary of $5.5 million, a $2 million roster bonus, $500K in per-game roster bonuses, and a $250K workout bonus. So while the Chiefs could afford Theilen in 2023 his guarantees and price in 2024 would make it unlikely though his contract could always be adjusted.
