The Chiefs are buyers in the trade market who should they look at?
I’m looking at some of the names that could be available before the trade deadline on October 31st. I’m going to go through all of the names that people wanted to see and I’m going to split them into rankings based on what the Chiefs could or could not afford. I’m taking a look at some of the names that could be available before the trade deadline on October 31st. I’m going to go through all of the names that people wanted to see and I’m going to split them into rankings based on what the Chiefs could or could not afford. On the Titans list so far: Treylon Burks, DeAndre Hopkins, and Derrick Henry. Let’s dive in.
Chiefs Cap Space
As a quick primer for these conversations, the Chiefs currently have about $3.88 million in cap space. Adding players at this time that are much more than the league minimum will constitute a need for several restructures.
Affordable
Rashod Bateman
Rashod Bateman is still on his rookie deal so it is very affordable for the Chiefs to take on if they were interested. His 2023 and 2024 salary is guaranteed in both years but they are very reasonable. For 2023, Bateman’s salary is $1.805 million and for 2024 it’s $2.378 million. Both of those numbers are amounts the Chiefs could afford. Looking at the rest of the 2023 money due Bateman would cost the Chiefs $1.003 million over the rest of the season.
