What to Watch for in the Final Preseason Game - Defensive Edition
Here is what I'll be watching for in Saturday's game
The regular season kickoff is less than two weeks away and the Kansas City Chiefs play their final preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday. While most of the roster spots are mostly locked in at this point let’s take a look at some of the spots that could be open. What players can make statements in this last game that could find them on the Chiefs 53-man roster after cuts on August 29th? If you missed the offensive side of the ball you can find that here.
The defensive side of the ball doesn’t have as many battles for roster spots. The biggest question heading into the season on defense is the defensive line without Chris Jones this could be a very lackluster unit overall, especially without Charles Omenihu in the first three weeks.
Danny Shelton and Daniel Wise
This could be one of the more interesting battles on the defensive side of the ball. If the Chiefs move Wharton to IR to start the season it’s also possible both could be on the roster against Detroit if Jones doesn’t report next week. Shelton has played well when given the chance so I think he is probably ahead of Wise but he is more of a fit to back up Nnadi which the Chiefs already have in Keondre Coburn.
