Travis Kelce Now the Highest Paid NFL TE
The Chiefs added money to Kelce's deal and he is now the highest paid tight end in the NFL
Travis Kelce can no longer state that he’s never been the highest-paid tight end in the NFL. On Monday afternoon, it was announced he had signed a two-year extension. It’s since been clarified that it was just a raise, not an extension. Kelce is still only under contract with the Chiefs in 2024 and 2025. We don’t have the full terms of the deal, but let’s dive into what we know.
Kelce’s original contract
In August 2020, Kelce signed a four-year extension that kept him with the Chiefs through 2025. He received $27 million in guarantees, with $20.25 guaranteed at signing. In 2022, the team raised his salary by $1 million from his 2023 contract year forward and added $2 million in per-game roster bonuses.
For 2024 and 2025, Kelce had no more guaranteed money in his contract. He had $12 million and $16.25 million as salary, with another $750K per-game roster bonuses and $250K in workout bonuses each year. Kelce also has $2.552 million per year in signing bonus proration, so his total cap number for 2024 and 2025 were $15.464 and $19.802 million, respectively.
