A deeper look into the cap and draft capital the Chiefs have spent at LB

Over the past two seasons, the Chiefs have been very successful adding to the LB room with second-round picks. In 2020 the Chiefs added Willie Gay and in 2021 the Chiefs added Nick Bolton who went on to lead the team in tackles and tackles for loss as a rookie despite his playing time. This is an ascending position for the Chiefs and one they still need to add to in 2022.

Gay was 63 overall by the Chiefs in 2020 and has shown his speed whenever he’s been on the field. Heading into his third season and second as a starter Gay looks to be an ascending player for the Chiefs with sideline to sideline speed. Gay is under contract with the Chiefs for 2022 and 2023 with a cap hit of just $1,436,558 in 2022.
