The Chiefs passing game was good but has definite room for improvement.

The Ravens game was sometimes up and down, but Mahomes looked poised for another big season. Mistakes in the first game aren’t surprising, but there are many things to be excited about. The Chiefs also missed Hollywood Brown, who could join the mix as early as this week against the Bengals.

Patrick Mahomes

If you look at just Mahomes’ yards per attempt alone, this was the 9th best regular season of his career. The deep ball is back in KC, and it opened up a lot more in the intermediate, which also helped the Y/A. Add in getting Brown going soon; there is much to be excited to watch for the rest of the season.

Patrick was 4/7 passing on 3rd down, converting three of them; weirdly enough, the one he didn’t convert was a completion to himself. Throwing for over 70% completion and Y/A of over 10.39 yards is extremely impressive and shows his new weapons will help throughout the rest of the year. There will always be things to clean up, but a better decision on his lone pick of the game will make this game instantly become one of the best he’s played, even without the TDs.
