Washington Commanders defensive tackle has signed a contract extension and it could lead the Chiefs to a deal of their own with Chris Jones:

Sources: Washington’s franchise player Daron Payne became the highest-paid DT in NFL history not named Aaron Donald, reaching agreement today on a four-year, $90 million deal that includes $60 million guaranteed.

So what does this mean for Chris Jones and the Chiefs? With a cap number of almost $29 million heading into the 2023 season the smart money was that Kansas City would get a deal done with Jones to open up cap space. That’s still a possibility at this but what does Payne’s deal mean for extending Jones?
