Chiefs Updated Cap Position After Cuts
A look at where the Chiefs cap space should be after roster moves
As of this writing, this is my best guess at the Chiefs' cap space as it currently stands.
When the cut day started, the Chiefs’ cap space was about $17.2 million. This was as a top 51 roster only, so it didn’t include all the players, and it didn’t include the real numbers for the practice squad. So, where do they sit after making all their moves?
Trades
The Chiefs made two trades to reach their initial roster. They traded a 2025 7th-round pick for Cameron Thomas, a DE, for the Cardinals and a conditional 7th-round pick for Peyton Hendershot. Both are on rookie deals, and their cap numbers for 2024 are $1,172,668 million and $985,000, respectively. Thomas has another year on his contract in 2025 for $1,406,502.
Adds $2,157,668 of cap hits to the roster.
