While I expected they would make a move, I was not expecting it to be for DeAndre Hopkins. As of this writing, I still have not seen that he is in Kansas City. There will be plenty of questions to answer about his arrival and how they will use him in the coming weeks, but let’s get into what we know now.

Trade Compensation

The Chiefs have traded their 2025 5th-round pick to the Tennessee Titans for Hopkins. It could become a 4th round pick if the Chiefs make the Super Bowl and Hopkins achieves 60% of the snaps for Kansas City.

To me, the compensation is fantastic for Kansas City. They keep their four picks at the top of the draft in the first two rounds in 2025, and they get to add a potential number-one receiver. After dealing with the decimation of their receiving core, the Chiefs had to make a move, and they made it earlier than expected, which could help him acclimate to the Chiefs offense quickly.
