After the stunning trade of Tyreek Hill on Wednesday, the Chiefs brought in receiving help in the form of Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
More of the details on the contract so far:
What this tells me is he is likely getting a sizeable signing bonus. Likely in the $10 million range I would guess so letβs round up to $12 to make it an easy proration amount moving forward.
His cap hit would likely be around $6 - 8 million in 2022 though if they wanted if the signing bonus is indeed $12 million they could make the salary around $1 million to continue to allow for cap flexibility this year and only have a 2022 cap hit of about $5 million. If that is the case then 2023 is likely a cap hit of another $9 million with a salary of about $5 million and another third of the signing bonus.
Based on the wording of the contract info it seems likely that the 3rd year in the deal is not guaranteed and likely has a cap hit of $16 million between the signing bonus proration of $4 million and the salary of around $12 million. This would get you to $30 million over 3 years.
The bigger question is how are the incentives structured and we are still waiting on that information.
I will update that when I get the information as to how this contract really looks.
What are they saying around the league?
The key to remember is that he isnβt a Hill replacement. There is no such thing as a Hill replacement. But he can do some of what made Hill so great for this offense. and Reid wanted him here.
