Due to incentives being hit and picking up Chris Jones’ option for the 2024 season, the Chiefs stand at just over $15.2 million in cap space. Jones’ option will void and thus hit the cap completely in 2024 unless they find a way to get a deal done in the next week, which is unlikely. As it sits right now, the Chiefs have 51 players counting against their cap space, and not much will change unless players are signed to extensions before the new league year. To be clear this is written from the perspective of how much could they free up. I’m not expecting the Chiefs to do all of these moves, but to show what each would create in cap space.

Cuts

Marquez Valdes-Scantling is likely to get cut unless he’s willing to redo his deal completely, and even then, I’m not sure it will be enough. Cutting MVS would save the Chiefs twelve million on the salary cap and put them at just over $27.2 million.
