Chiefs Lose Butker to Knee Injury
The Chiefs will be without Harrison Butker for the next month after he was placed on IR.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ health issues continue even when it looks like they could be getting healthier. On Thursday, the Chiefs placed Harrison Butker on IR with a knee injury and signed Spencer Shrader to the active roster. Butker is out at least four games before he can return to the active roster at this point.
Butker has a meniscus injury that will require surgery. He will be sidelined for three to four weeks. With the move to IR, he will get extra time to recover, and he should be back in plenty of time for the playoffs and maybe even the Chiefs' late-game games in December.
Shrader comes to Kansas City from the Jets practice squad, where they tried to keep him after he kicked for them this past week by offering a spot on the active roster. Shrader chose to go to Kansas City regardless, knowing it would likely be a short-term stint with the team. During the season, he’s played two games, three for three on extra points and two for two on field goals. He’s made his kicks from 25 yards and 45 yards.
