Chiefs Draft WR Xavier Worthy!
The Chiefs just drafted the fastest WR in the history of the combine at 28!
There are so many things I thought the draft could bring on night one. One I never in a million years expected was that the Chiefs would trade up with the Buffalo Bills to select a WR. With the way the draft fell, an offensive tackle wasn’t something they could afford to take without making a big reach, but they made Patrick Mahomes’ job easier with the speed they just added to the offense. Let’s take a look at the trade, the Athletic Matrix, and the contract he will sign.
The Trade
Normally, I wouldn’t make a big deal out of a trade that the team makes. This one I’m still shocked about. Of all teams, the Buffalo Bills trade out of 28 and back to 32 to give the Chiefs a chance to draft a WR with game-breaking speed. The Chiefs also gave up pick 95 and 221 and got back 133 and 248. The Chiefs gave up a top-100 pick, but they got back a fourth, so the total value lost by most metrics is about a sixth-round pick!
