Chiefs Draft OL Hunter Nourzad
The Chiefs found their Nick Allegretti replacement in the 5th round
The Chiefs needed to find a replacement for their last Swiss army knife on the offensive line, and they did so in the 5th round. Nourzad has played all over the offensive line in college and could fill in at four of the five spots in the NFL. His ability to step in and play anywhere allows them to dress fewer linemen during the season. Injuries happen, and it could save them a roster spot as well.
The Contract
Nourzad’s contract for the four years he will be on the rookie deal will cost the Chiefs around $4.34 million for the entire agreement. The player he replaces makes more than that in a single season for the next three years and receives a signing bonus of more than Nourzad’s entire contract. Hunter will receive a signing bonus of around $320,000, prorating across the four-year contract at $80K per season. His salaries for the next four years will be $795K, $960K, $1.075 million, and $1.19 million. The total cap hit for each year will be $875K, $1.04 million, $1.155 million, and $1.27 million.
