Chiefs at Raiders - Matchups to Watch
A look at the biggest matchups headed into this division rivalry game
If you look at the two records of the teams you’d think it should be rather obvious who the better team is. Generally speaking, it is the Chiefs but they haven’t been playing like it over the past couple of weeks. They are 1-2 over the last three weeks while the Raiders are 2-1. The level of competition is definitely something that should be considered but since Antonio Pierce has taken over the Raiders the team has been playing much better.
Steve Spagnuolo vs Aidan O’Connell
This will be O’Connell’s fifth start of his career and that is where I think the Chiefs have the biggest advantage. Watching the defense go off against the Eagles in the first half on Monday night shows that Spags has the ability to create pressure against even a great offensive line. The Raiders do not have a great offensive line though they aren’t bad either. The question is who is going to have a better day on Sunday, a rookie QB who has never played against Spags, or the Chiefs’ defense who is holding even great offenses to less than 20 points a game this season? My money is on the Chiefs’ defense having a great game against O’Connell and the Raiders’ offense.
