53 Man Roster Projection After Week 3 of the Preseason - Defense

The Chiefs found another way to win a close game in the preseason holding off the Browns with a partially blocked FG with under a minute to play. The defense is going to be tough to figure out, especially on the defensive front but let’s dive into it!

If you missed the offensive side of the ball you can find that here.

Defensive Tackle - 5

Derrick Nnadi - Will start but only because the Chiefs haven’t found a replacement. Won’t give the team any pass rush.

Tershawn Wharton - Started against the Browns so unless there is a step back with the knee he’s likely the starter in week one.

Keondre Coburn - Coburn isn’t ready to start but a year in the system could really help.

Danny Shelton - Shelton has been the most consistent. I think he’s on the roster but because of the contract he could be cut on Tuesday and brought back Wednesday if they need to put a second player on IR.

Daniel Wise - Without a clear starter next to Nnadi I think the Chiefs could look to go deeper than they want just to try to figure out who can play.

There is no Chris Jones because at this time I don’t think he reports by Tuesday. I’d love to be wrong. If he doesn’t report he’ll be added to the Did Not Report list and won’t count on the 53-man roster.

Would also not be surprised if the Chiefs find another DT on the waiver wire or via trade before the Lions game.
